Skyrim, otherwise known as The Elder Scrolls V (five), is probably the most anticipated game of the year, with many many fans to the elder scrolls series being drawn in with the superb award winning Oblivion.
These games are seriously awesome.
For those unaccustomed, the Elder Scrolls Series are RPG's (role-playing-games), where you are generally given a character, designed by yourself, and then go out to lead your characters life as you so wish. Often, there will be a main quest to do and many side quests to help you along, gaining experience points to level your characters attributes up, and upgrade your equipment, often with magic.

I laugh out loud at your captioned cat

This, is one of my favourite "LOLcats" of all time.
What is it with the internets love of cats though? Sure they are the best thing to caption since pictures of drunk people, but why didn't "LOLdogs" ever become such a big thing?
Maybe because they're not as easy to pose... you tried to get a rottweiler to smile? It'll cost you some fingers if you're unlucky.
Anyone got any ideas? Also comment with your favourite "LOLcat"s :D

Did that speech really deserve an Oscar?

This years Oscars was broad cast a little over 2 weeks ago, and the Kings Speech won the Oscar Award for Best Picture. But did this film deserve the prestigious title? Or was it a lot of media hype, pulling at the critics to go with the tide?
I watched the film, and very much enjoyed it. The acting was solid, the story was an enjoyable record of events of the time, and especially for us Brits, was incredibly patriotic.
But I have a nagging feeling inside of me that for it to win Best Picture was a step to far.
Of course, it will come down to personal opinion, but as a recent programme I watched pointed out to me, the nominees of the Oscars have been specifically churned out and marketed to win Oscars.
I'm sure the producers of at least half of those films would be very happy to splash out for the critics to come and have a private viewing of their new film just before decision making, but what about independent or foreign films? It seems the industry has become somewhat lazy and just another show.
Again, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter. Did you enjoy Kings Speech? Did it deserve the Best Picture Oscar? If not, what should have won it?

MINECRAFT!

Another game folks. This one accredited to a fine man called Notch (creator of this masterpiece)
Minecraft is an interesting one. Buy-able off the website, you download the client and can play immediately after getting your account details, and are thrown into a world of infinite(ish) cubes.
This game has so much scope, not only in game but for mods and development, it's certainly one to watch. I personally adore it and have racked up quite a few hours.
During the day, the world is a peaceful place full of animals, trees and sunshine. Then darkness descends and all hell breaks loose... zombies, skeletons, spiders, the works.
How are you to survive the night? MINE OF COURSE!
With a world made of cubes, all but a few easily destroyable (with the right equipment) you can create any structure you could think of, and then live in it! Try and think of life size lego if you will.
Mining for minerals will aid you in your quest of survival and construction, and crafting allowing you to build the tools needed for your creation.
The relevance of the games name is overwhelming.
For any of those who have played this game, a question. What would you like to see introduced?

Horror Films or Games?

Last night I downloaded the demo of the game linked above. Wow.
To say that it was captivating would be an understatement. I have always been un-phased by horror games in the past but this one was different. Definitely worth a try with the demo and buying the game would only support the creators to make more games :D
But, I digress, back to my original title.
What do you find scarier? Horror films or games?
Obviously a vast majority of films are not done from a POV perspective, meaning that any experience on screen is less... personal, but it does allow them to take many different shots away from the characters allowing them to weave their desired tone and atmosphere into the film without restriction.
Another factor is involvement. With a game, you affect what happens, if you walked into that dark room and didn't defend yourself, your character (who is almost becoming part of you as you play) is going to die. With a film you can sit back and allow the carnage to happen, but here you have to save this person.
Unless your feeling a little morbidly curious.
